As part of London College of Fashion’s cultural programme, coinciding with London Tech Week, the MA Fashion Media and Communication class of 2024 presented a compelling showcase of work that reflects the shifting boundaries of fashion, technology, and storytelling. Their projects exemplify the critical and creative application of emerging and advanced technologies to envision, plan, and design extended reality (XR) environments and experiences.
The class of 2024 explored a rich intersection of AI, gaming ecosystems, and platform systems to develop innovative hybrid fashion experiences. These ranged from immersive XR exhibitions and gamified fashion narratives to speculative design strategies and community-driven digital spaces. Through this work, students not only engaged with contemporary technologies but also questioned and reimagined the role of media and communication in the future of fashion.
Central to their work is a commitment to community building and curatorial innovation. Projects addressed the integration of fashion into virtual and augmented realities, offering interactive experiences that challenge traditional notions of audience and participation. The work also explored strategic and speculative methodologies, envisioning the role of fashion communication over the next decade in response to rapidly evolving technological landscapes.
The LCF Fashion Undressed event provided a platform for students and academics to lead demonstrations, workshops, and discussions, drawing an engaged audience into conversations about AI, digital innovation, and the future of fashion. It served not only as a celebration of student achievement but also as a collaborative inquiry into the evolving relationship between fashion and technology.
In highlighting the voices and visions of emerging creatives, the MA Fashion Media and Communication showcase underscored the transformative power of interdisciplinary thinking and offered a glimpse into a future where fashion media is as interactive, inclusive, and imaginative as the technologies it embraces.
